Tooth discolouration is extremely common and can be caused by a number of factors. Tetracycline staining and fluorosis is the most difficult to treat as it does not respond well to whitening treatments and in most cases veneers are required to disguise the discolouration. Teeth usually either be bleached a lighter colour, but if there is an unevenness to the tooth discolouration then it is harder to get a good result by whitening alone as the whitening will lift the colour of the teeth to the same degree all over resulting in the unevenness still being present. Again veneers would be needed to fully disguise this. See examples below if discoloured that have been transformed here.
Before any treatment took place at The Harley Street Smile Clinic, teeth appeared to be dull and worn. With signs of yellowing and staining.
The Harley Street Smile Clinic improved the appearance of our patient’s teeth by making them whiter and visibly brighter. This is most commonly done through either whitening treatment, though in stubborn discolouring cases, porcelain veneers are used to create a smile with a clear gleaming look.
